Almost...really...I really mean it!

It's almost ready!  I just delivered the master CD to the CD manufacturer.  Yay!!  My first EP (a collection of 6 songs, less than a full length CD, often used as an introduction to a new artist) is now out of my hands and being duplicated.  I'm so proud of the music and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.  Many thanks to my collaborators: Red Spider MultimediaBradley James Falconer for R00KAmy LevineMitchell WilcoxWolf Wein for Wolf Track Audio and everyone who played roles in this effort.

I had no idea how much effort goes into the full process of releasing a CD.  Yes, I have a Christmas CD (which, since the season is approaching, you can download here: Victoria Theodore: Christmas), but that was different because it wasn't original music.  I started this process over a year ago in earnest, and I'm looking forward to holding the tangible product in my hands.  But even more, I'm looking forward to performing on a regular basis again.

Back in April, when I started working with my co-producer, Brad, I decided that it didn't make sense to book (or take) any more local gigs without having a product to sell.  So, I cut way way way back in local performing so I could focus.  Not an easy task for a music addict like me, but I found it a necessary evil.  Of course, I made sure to always be available for Stevie Wonder gigs (I'm not insane, after all!), but otherwise, I really stepped back.  I'm so ready to start playing again!  Now that I have my own EP, I also look forward to performing MY music!!  Yay!

So, with that stated, I'm performing with Kymberly Jackson on Saturday, November 3 in Oakland!  And, yes, you'll be able to buy my EP at the show!  Kymberly always puts on a great show and has a loyal following, so be sure to get your tickets early!

CDs, Gigs, etc.

CD???  Nope, not yet.  It's close though!  I know I've been saying that for weeks...months even.  But really, for real really this time...really!  Close.  All the ducks are lining up, the eggs gathering in a basket, the cats being herded, etc!  Until then, you can come hear me perform with Kymberly Jackson at 57th Street Gallery on November 3.  My goal is to have CDs for you to purchase at the show.  I'm setting my intention, gathering my momentum, polishing my optimism and stepping forward in faith!

Happy weekend, beauties...

A Quickie...

If it's brief, does it count?

Last week, I committed to writing my blog on a more regular basis.  Today was a day filled with tasks, meeting with old friends from afar, more tasks, making dog food (I need to write a blog devoted just to that new task), watching the debate while I tried (oh how I try) to catch up with email.  And now, as I sit down to eat my dinner (salad with romaine and butter lettuce, an organic tomato from my uncle's garden, baby carrots and 1/2 avocado in a sesame vinaigrette, and a side of roasted butternut squash with apple and almonds), I remember my commitment.  So, here I am, blogging while hungry.  And here I go, to eat my dinner!  Until next time, my darlings...

Writing Habit

So, I've taken up this new task of waking up at 7am every morning (awfully difficult for a vampire musician like myself) and spending 30 minutes writing.  The purpose is to free my creative mind and hope that it will yield a bounty of compositions, essays, screenplays, choreography, recipes, cures for infectious disease, the secret of the Universe, etc.  I have yet to confirm that it's a valid form of creative impetus, but I suppose time will tell.  Speaking of time: it's time to get back to practice for my wedding gig tomorrow evening.  I have a few gigs coming up in November, and I will definitely let you all know about those in time.  For now, I'm keeping to my other new task (which I often fail miserably at meeting) of avoiding going online except for 2 distinct time periods per week - now being one of those times...although it was really supposed to take place this morning.  Oops!

I wish you a lovely weekend!

Blessings & Music, my dears!

Blogging...RESTART!

Hello my beautiful friends!  It's been a long while since I've posted anything in my blog.  I owe you all some beautifully written prose and highly artful photos of myself and my incredible journeys this year.  That's coming soon.  For now, I just want to reestablish the habit of writing at least once a week. It's now on my calendar twice per week (if I schedule it ambitiously, maybe I can meet the bare minimum goal???  Maybe...), and I'm going to do everything I can do to keep that schedule!  There's soooo much to share with you, from my trip to perform for the Queen, travel to Portugal, Turkey and even last year's trip to Brazil (yes, I've been that terrible of a blogger...sigh...).

Anyway, my thoughts today lead to me to express gratitude for having such a wonderful team on board for my 6 song EP!  My co-writers, the musicians, the engineers, my co-producer, my family, boyfriend, friends, the dogs, everyone involved has been so supportive, loving, energetic, willing to go the extra mile, helping in innumerable ways.  The EP is a true expression of my gratitude.  Music coming soon.... : >
